Irritating! Jealous?! Unbelievable!!
Episode 11 starts off at the Kanbayashi
residence where we see poor kitty, Chico, become the first victim of a giant
spider living beneath a rock in the Kanbayashi back yard. Reiko, a girl
who goes to school with Momiji and Chico's owner goes looking for him, and
sees the giant spider's glowing eyes.
The story then switches to Sakura who is out riding her
bike. Reiko steps into the street in front of her, and Sakura slams on
her breaks to avoid hitting Reiko, who has collapsed in the middle of the
street, dropping Chiko's bloodied collar. Sakura looks at her and then
yells, "Man am I lucky!"
Then we go to Momiji walking along the street and stopping
in front of a shop window which displays a sign for "First Kiss"
lipstick (can you guess what she's thinking about?). While she's sitting
there, staring at it, Kusanagi comes up from behind and startles her. He
asks here where she's been, but Momiji just freaks out, and runs away, leaving
Kusanagi standing, staring after her completely bewildered.
Moving on, we get a glimpse at the TAC who are investigating a string of
deaths involving young girls whose bodies have been completely
desiccated. They surmise it is the work of the
Aragami.
Momiji's at school by now, and while she is berating
herself from running away from Kusanagi, a new student arrives: Sakura
Yamazaki. Sakura sees Momiji and becomes enraged, accusing of trying to
steal the spotlight. The two exchange a few choice words.
Sakura then makes a comment about how there aren't any real
studs at the school, comparing them to "that hunk, Kusanagi." And
then she implies that if she wanted Kusanagi, Momiji would offer no real
competition. Shortly thereafter, she leaves, following Reiko, and Momiji
sees Kusanagi outside the school window. He's been watching them, and he
follows Sakura, wondering why she's at Momiji's school.
He confronts her and while they are talking, Momiji sees
them, thinks that they have a "thing" going and trips over a bucket
to try and get away. Kusanagi tries to stop her, as confused as ever
about her erratic behavior, and when Sakura tells him that he's as dense as a
bag of bricks, he changes the subject.
Sakura and Kusanagi go to the Kanbayashi residence where
the story of the giant spider and why Sakura is at Momiji's school watching
Reiko comes to light. Meanwhile, back at the school, the possessed Reiko
unleashes hundreds of tiny little spiders upon a locker room full of screaming
girls. Momiji hears the screams and goes to investigate, finding Reiko
turned monster. Reiko then goes after her, pushing her out of a
window.
By this time, Kusanagi and Sakura have arrived back at
school, and Kusanagi is able to catch Momiji as she falls to the ground.
Reiko flees the school, heading back to the Kanbayashi residence and Momiji,
Sakura and Kusanagi follow where a fight with the giant spider ensues.
Kusanagi and Sakura team up to try to beat it, and when
things start to get a little out of hand, Momiji wants to help, but Kusanagi
tells her to stay back. Feeling left out, Momiji falls to her knees,
wishing that she make her mitama activate so that she could fly. It
doesn't happen, but what does happen is that Kusanagi and Sakura get wrapped
up in the silken threads of the spider's web and it's up to Momiji to save the
day.
Sakura yells that Momiji's only value is as a human
sacrifice, but Kusanagi tells her not to listen, and urges her to stop
Reiko. Momiji runs towards Reiko and knocks the controlling mechanism
(another tiny spider) from Reiko's neck and squashes it. Kusanagi
manages to free himself (how convenient ~_~) and compliments Momiji. The
episode ends with Momiji having decided that Kusanagi's attempts to
resuscitate her was her first real kiss (eyew!) and Sakura is left
hanging in a tree, yelling for someone to get her down.
